Big Time Records “Robbs” a Singing Sensation

September 17th, 2010

Modesto, CA – After 14 years of dreaming the dream, Lodi’s Steven Robb will finally be living it now that he’s signed a multi-year deal with Big Time Records.

Former front man of Five Star Rising, and most recently Coma Bloom, Robb has certainly paid his dues–first as a struggling singer in Hollywood and then as an up-and-coming addition to the band Five Star Rising in 2004.

Working with Chris Ricci Presents, Robb and Five Star Rising enjoyed some highs, such as winning a battle of the bands and opening for several national acts such as Crossfade, Saliva, Drowning Pool, The Romantics, The Fix, Blue Oyster Cult, Coolio, Great White, and  The Spin Doctors. But after a couple years they drifted apart.

In 2007 Robb met Ryan Looper and they created Coma Bloom out of Modesto, eventually recording with Adam Ruppel of Proview Studios. Singles “Haunting Me” and “Pull the Trigger” exploded on Merced’s radio station 92.5, The Bear.

Even so, Robb hadn’t yet sung his way into the big time. That’s when fate intervened and he got a call from Ricci again: “There’s a band out of Lodi looking for a singer. In 20 minutes Robert Beadles of Big Time Records is going to give you a call.”

Three auditions later, Robb landed his first record contract with Lodi’s Dazeafter, who were looking for a lead singer with a marketable sound. Once they met Robb and heard his music—he sounds a bit like a modern Steve Perry–they were hooked. Robb wrote five songs for them in five weeks.

Bass Guitarist Kyle Johnson said of Robb, “His voice is going to take us all the way to the top.” Big Time Records owner Robert Beadles enthusiastically stated, ”It’s like it was meant to be. I scoured the country looking for a new lead singer and here Steve was right here in our own back yard.”

Dazeafter will close the show for The Lodi Music and Body Art Expo on October 3rd, 2010 at The Hutchin’s Street Square in the idyllic wine country town of Lodi. The event will feature a battle of the bands where the winner will get an entire album professionally produced and recorded, a professional website and digital distribution. The event features “Arrival” The World’s Premiere “Journey” tribute band as well as “The Moonshine Bandits.” The event will also feature  world class tattoo and body piercing experts providing their services to the public. The event will run from 10 am to 10 pm Oct 1st – 3rd.

Big Time Records, Chris Ricci, Razer’s Living Ink Tattoo, Chris Ricci Presents, The Fat Cat Music House and Lounge, Victoria Krippner, The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Robert Beadles are putting on Lodi’s first annual Lodi Body Art and Music Festival. Proceeds will benefit the Firemen’s Burn Fund and The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
